Jaeger Medical’s story began in 1954 in Höchberg, Germany, when Erich Jaeger founded JAEGER®, a company dedicated to distributing specialized medical equipment. Recognizing the need for innovation in pulmonary function diagnostics, JAEGER quickly expanded beyond distribution into in-house manufacturing.

Key milestones in Jaeger Medical’s history include:

1956

Began manufacturing electrically braked cycle ergometers, laying the foundation for advanced exercise testing.

1958

>Entered the respiratory diagnostics market, developing proprietary lung function testing devices with expert collaboration.

1962

Introduced the Universal Bodytest, a groundbreaking innovation that became the foundation for modern computerized body plethysmography.

Over the decades, Jaeger Medical underwent several transformations as part of leading global healthcare corporations:

2001

Acquired by VIASYS Healthcare Inc., further strengthening its position in the respiratory diagnostics industry.

2007

VIASYS Healthcare became part of Cardinal Health Inc.

2009

Continuing as CareFusion to develop cutting-edge medical technologies.

2015

BD sold 51% of CareFusion to Apax Partners, forming Vyaire Medical, a company focused exclusively on respiratory care.

2024

Trudell Medical Group acquired the Respiratory Diagnostics (RDx) division of Vyaire Medical, bringing the business full circle under the historic Jaeger Medical name.
